Cursos gratuitos relacionados con el mundo SIG [Actualizado 2015]

Estos últimos meses estuve mirando cursos gratuitos que pudieran ser de utilidad de alguna u otra forma en paginas web del tipo MOOC (Massive open online course) u otras webs con cursos abiertos, canales de YouTube donde encontrar información, etc. Algunos cursos están relacionados directamente con mapas o programación GIS, otros son cursos que me parecían interesantes sobre  temas en los que se estudia una componente geográfica importante (diseño de las ciudades, smart cities, pobreza en el mundo, salud, energía,..). En los que pone archivado se refiere a que alguna edición del curso ya terminó pero puedes acceder a su contenido, las fechas se refieren al inicio de la siguiente sesión.

Recomiendo especialmente los más relacionados con el mundo SIG, como es el primero «Python Scripting for GIS» que intentaré seguirlo, y «Maps and the Geospatial Revolution».

Espero que te sean de interés, y seguro que hay muchos más que desconozco, así que si puedes aportar alguno nuevo comenta en el post y lo agregaré. Gracias de antemano por vuestras colaboraciones.

Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) de “Introducción a Scripting en gvSIG 2.1” 2a. Edición

En el cual soy tutor, podréis aprender a programar en gvSIG paso a paso usando el lenguaje de Python. El nivel está preparado para gente sin conocimientos en programación.

• Plataforma: gvSIG Training
• Siempre abierto a inscripción. Realizar es gratutito, pero además tiene la posibilidad de obtener certificado oficial con el pago de 40€ al acabar.
• En el MOOC de «Introducción a Scripting en gvSIG 2.1» trataremos de dar a conocer un poco más sobre el potencial de la programación geoespacial. La posibilidad de crear nuevas herramientas, nuevos geoprocesos o análisis de datos, que nos aumentarán la potencia de gvSIG adaptándose a nuestras necesidades. También la automatización de tareas, que nos podrían generar un ahorro de tiempo y de trabajo considerable.

Dispositivos Móviles para la gestión del territorio

Introduction to Geospatial Technology Using QGIS

• Topics covered in this course include GIS, cartography, remote sensing, and spatial analysis through a series of lectures and hands-on computer-based exercises. This course is designed to be used as a stand-alone course to complement other disciplines or as an entry level course into a geospatial program. GEOG 497D – Lidar Technology and Applications

• Plataforma: PennState Department of Geography
• An introduction to Light Detection and Ranging (lidar) systems for mapping and GIS applications. This course assumes that students have prior knowledge and experience in mapping and GIS. Students who successfully complete GEOG 497D will be able to apply knowledge about airborne topographic lidar mapping systems, processing of lidar data, and lidar-derived data products to a variety of GIS application scenarios. They will be able to describe methods used to georeference and classify these data using commercially available software tools in order to produce digital terrain models and other GIS-ready data products.
